Located on an 18th-century family-run hill farm in the heart of the Forest of Bowland, Wood End Alpacas offers an intimate and relaxing way to connect with nature.

Situated on the King’s Whitewell Estate, the farm is a haven of tranquility in one of rural Lancashire’s most unspoilt areas.

Known for their gentle temperaments, the alpacas at Wood End are the stars of a range of “paca-experiences” designed for all ages, set against the backdrop of this protected National Landscape.

Activities & Experiences

  • Alpaca Walks: A 2-hour immersive experience that includes a safety briefing, bonding time, and a guided walk through the farm’s fields. You’ll finish the session by helping with feeding time.

  • General Days: Wednesday – Sunday (Closed Mondays and Tuesdays, except Bank Holiday Mondays).

  • Note: The farm walks go ahead in the rain, but may be rearranged in extreme weather for safety.

Admission & Prices

  • Alpaca Walks: £35.00 per person.
  • Meet & Greet: £22.00 per person (£11.00 for children aged 3 and under).
  • Lite Bites: Optional add-ons like homemade Cream Teas or soup and sandwiches are available to pre-order.

Important Information

  • Accessibility: While the treks involve uneven farm fields, Wood End is remarkably accessible. They offer an all-terrain mobility scooter (Tramper/Terrain Hopper) for hire free of charge for those who need it—just request it when booking.
  • What to Wear: Wellies or stout boots are a must! Even in summer, the Bowland fields can be damp.
  • Dog Policy: Strictly no dogs. Alpacas view dogs as predators, so to keep the herd happy and safe, your four-legged friends must stay at home.
