Left disappointed
After reading all the positive reviews we expected a lot. On arrival we were greeted by Ben who was very warm and welcoming, a good sign we thought. The place is lovely, set in a pretty courtyard. At £32 for a two course Sunday lunch you’d expect to leave full. Starters were nice, nothing special and then the beef mains arrived. I honestly thought as did my husband that they were going to bring out the sides separately – there wasn’t much on the plate. The beef was lovely but there were hardly any vegetables to be seen and two tiny roast potatoes. Gravy & Yorkshires lacked flavour and the whole thing needed seasoning. Price wise, had this of been around £26 for two courses we wouldn’t have felt so short changed. The toilets need updating desperately too.
Over priced, under seasoned and sadly we won’t be returning.
We tried Toms Table out for a wedding anniversary this year. We pre booked a table, which I would advise doing on the busier nights. You will receive a confirmation email closer to the time to reconfirm your booking, so keep an eye out for it.
We started with some drinks in the bar area, nice cocktail selection but limited draught beer. Negroni was lovely!
After 20 minutes or so we went downstairs to the dining area and reviewed the menu. I had the seasonal vegetarian option, vegetable gratin with a wild garlic pesto. This was delicious but the portion size was quite small, I’m glad I ordered some chips with this. My wife had Moroccan venison which was very good and well cooked (medium rare)
We each had a parkin for dessert which was fantastic and such a treat.
Staff were attentive and we didn’t have to wait long for anything.
It is slightly pricier than other establishments in the town but for an elevated dining experience this was a wonderful treat
Toms Table never disappoints!
My friend and I love it here, the food is excellent.
The standout for me this weekend was the slow-cooked beef blade, tender, rich, and packed with flavour. The meat just melted in the mouth, the pomme puree, confit carrot, smoked cabbage & red wine sauce tied everything together beautifully. My friend had the fish du jour which was a whole roasted wild seabream, which came with spiced saffron rice, grilled pak choi & langoustine bisque… just WOW. We finished our meal with a Berry Pavlova from the specials, which was stunning.
Friendly service, so attentive, couldn’t do more for us and the whole place is such relaxed vibe, especially the bar area! so relaxed, had a cheeky drink in the before and after our meal. Defiantly recommend Toms Table, it’s easily one of the best spots in town!
Hats off to the team at Toms Table, we booked a table for our anniversary and had a fantastic meal, starters of pork fritter and I had the cheese soufflé, then we both had Sirloin steak that was perfectly cooked. We were too full for dessert but we received a lovely little complementary cake with happy anniversary written in chocolate sauce which was a lovely touch and totally unexpected.
Amazing experience for Mum’s Birthday! Food was beautiful and the service and atmosphere were fantastic! Our dog was even treated like a valued guest. They even gave mum a little treat!!
