We had a lovely evening meal here.. beef tartare and monkfish for starters and lamb and venison for main course with a side of chips. Both the meat and fish were cooked to perfection and the service was really good. The restaurant had a nice atmosphere and next time we will come during the daytime, so that we can visit the shop and also admire the view. The only improvement I’d say was that the meal was a bit meat-heavy and it would have been nice to have some more veg.
I came for Sunday lunch today and it was absolutely amazing! It’s hidden down country lanes and is part of a working organic farm with beautiful countryside views. The food was exceptional, beautifully cooked. It is by far the best Sunday lunch I have had out at a gastro pub / restaurant. Beef was melt in the mouth, roasties and Yorkshire puddings were light fluffy and crispy. Four courses for £49 is great value for such good food. Staff were friendly, attentive and George is a superstar!
We went as a group of 4 for the tasting menu. All the staff were very knowledgeable of each dish and very attentive. The food is very good and locally sourced. The restaurant was around half full, so fairly quiet. As the building has a lot windows it was a little on the cold side, please also be aware that the approach to the restaurant is along a single track rural road and care needs to be taken in the dark.
We had a wonderful time on a Friday evening service at Eight at Gazegill. We had a spacious table for four and whilst it was a busy, probably fully booked night, we didn’t feel at all crowded or rushed. The service team were calm, professional and friendly. Topping up the wine and water throughout the evening and having meaningful interactions with us whilst allowing us to enjoy our conversation. I have a nut and sesame intolerance which they catered for gracefully and without a fuss. We all opted for the tasting menu and felt it was great value for money, lovely flavours and ideas. Will definitely return.
Me and my husband came here in the morning and we really enjoyed the food . The restaurant is near the farm and all the food is fresh and healthy. There were baby pigs running around outside and they were really cute as well as some other animals . The food was amazing , and the service really good
