En route to Chester from York so stayed over …room is basic but comfortable and ok. No food offering other than breakfast. It is in fact a religious retreat but offers accomodation to presumably create funds for the charity. Main plus it is that is set in the most impressive grounds. Staff are very helpful and there is a decent breakfast included.

Recently stayed at Theodore House. The location was beautiful, and the staff were very friendly. On-site wifi.

The room was small, with no TV or outward window ( it does have a skylight). But it was clean, and the bed was okay.

Theodore House is a comfortable and wonderful entry point to the beautiful countryside and walks around Stonyhurst. If you just want to escape from the pressure of city life it is the ideal spot to rest, walk and read. You will return well rested.

A very good continental breakfast is served in the morning. It is a relatively short walk to the Shireburn Arms in Hurst Green for lunch. Michael and Jeanette at Theodore House are very welcoming and helpful.

We have been 3 times (twice for Easter and once during the Autumn) and would thoroughly recommend staying at Theodore House.

I stayed here on the 17th of September for one night. I was looking for somewhere to stay close to Hurst Green.

Theodore House is located within the magnificent grounds of Stonyhurst College. The house has a rustic exterior but a modern interior with lovely garden and grounds.

I stayed in a single bedroom. The bedroom was clean and comfortable. Gabriel met me and showed me to my room. He was extremely polite and welcoming. It was good that the room had a remote controlled blind to keep the room dark. The shower was nice and warm.

I enjoyed the breakfast that was put on. Again Janet was extremely accommodating and helpful.

I would definitely be looking to stay again in the near future. I would definitely recommend the Tolkien trail which is around there.

OS90, some 35 of us or so, held our long delayed reunion here some 6 months ago. We were not disappointed. The whole venue is wonderful, the rooms were spotless and, given the price, which includes a wonderful breakfast, a bargain. There are single rooms, double rooms and a hand full of Family rooms. Plenty of parking and excellent security. You don’t have be an OS (Old Stonyhurst) and you don’t have to be Catholic, anyone can stay. For those looking to explore the surrounding area, it’s the best place around. I know, I’ve been going there for 43 years. Give it a go!
