Every September, the sound of scooters, soul and ska takes over Clitheroe for one of the Ribble Valley’s most colourful weekends of the year.
The Ribble Valley Scooter Rally & Music Festival returns from Friday 25th to Sunday 27th September 2026, bringing hundreds of vintage and modern scooters, live music and plenty of Mod-inspired style to the streets, pubs and venues of Clitheroe.
Whether you own a Lambretta, love a Vespa, have a wardrobe full of parkas or simply fancy a great weekend of live music, it’s an event well worth putting in the diary.
When is the Ribble Valley Scooter Rally 2026?
The 2026 Ribble Valley Scooter Rally & Music Festival takes place across three days and evenings, from 25th–27th September 2026.
The event runs from 11am until 9pm, with activities taking place around Clitheroe. Entry to the main festival is free, and the event is described as family-friendly and open to everyone.

Hundreds of scooters descend on Clitheroe
The scooters are naturally the stars of the weekend.
Hundreds of vintage and modern machines are expected to arrive in Clitheroe, transforming the town centre into a spectacular display of chrome, colour and classic scooter culture.
One of the highlights comes on Saturday 26th September, when more than 600 scooters are expected to ride into town at around 1.30pm.
Even if you don’t know your Lambrettas from your Vespas, it’s quite a sight.
Find yourself a good spot in town, grab a coffee and watch as scooter after scooter arrives. For photographers, families and anyone with an interest in classic vehicles, it’s arguably the moment of the weekend not to miss.
Live music across Clitheroe
The Ribble Valley Scooter Rally has grown into much more than a gathering for scooter owners.
Throughout the weekend, more than 20 licensed venues across Clitheroe will host free live music, with sounds ranging from classic 1960s Mod favourites to Northern Soul, R&B and Ska.
That town-wide format is a big part of the rally’s appeal. Rather than everything happening behind the gates of a single festival site, the atmosphere spreads through Clitheroe.
Expect busy pubs, packed music venues and plenty happening as you wander between the Market Place and surrounding streets.
From The Jam at The Grand
There’s also a major gig taking place during the weekend.
From The Jam play The Grand in Clitheroe on Saturday 26th September 2026, with support from Stil Life. The venue describes the Scooter Rally locally as the “Mod Weekender”, making the band a particularly fitting addition to Saturday night’s entertainment.
Unlike the free music taking place around town, this is a separately ticketed concert, so it’s worth booking ahead if you’d like to go.
Make a weekend of it
If you’re travelling into the Ribble Valley for the rally, staying for the whole weekend gives you the chance to experience the festival properly.
Clitheroe Cricket Club is opening its grounds for camping, camper vans, motorhomes and caravans from Friday 25th until Monday 28th September. Spaces must be pre-booked.
The club is around a five-minute walk from The Grand and close to the town-centre venues. Campers will have access to toilets and showers, while the clubhouse bar will be open and breakfasts will be available on Saturday, Sunday and Monday.
Alternatively, Clitheroe and the surrounding Ribble Valley have plenty of hotels, inns, B&Bs and self-catering accommodation. With the rally attracting visitors from outside the area, booking early is sensible.
Exploring Clitheroe while you’re here
The Scooter Rally is also a great excuse to spend a little longer exploring Clitheroe.
Between performances, take a wander around the town’s independent shops, cafés and pubs, explore the market or climb up to Clitheroe Castle for views across the town and surrounding Ribble Valley countryside.
And if you’re staying for the weekend, you’re only a short journey from some of the Ribble Valley’s prettiest villages and countryside.
It means you can quite easily combine a morning exploring the Valley with an afternoon of scooters and an evening of live music.
Do you need a scooter to join in?
Absolutely not.
While scooter enthusiasts travel to Clitheroe especially for the rally, the event is open to everyone and is officially described as family friendly.
In fact, half the fun is simply being in town.
Expect classic scooters, sharp suits, parkas, Mod fashion, plenty of dancing and a soundtrack that takes in some of the best-loved music of the 1960s and beyond.
