Booked for Sunday lunch 25th January and didn’t realise there was a jazz group The Gelatos playing…Jazz isn’t really our thing but they were fantastic and we will definitely go to one of these events again.

Ordered a beetroot and falafel salad to share, then a vegan Moving Mountains burger and a vegan scampi and chips with a bottle of Commissioners Block Chardonnay which we checked online and was vegan..The food was fabulous and delicious, we really enjoyed it and service was great too.

Came back for their February jazz lunch on the 22nd, ordered an onion bhaji ciabatta and sausage melt, with fries and salad. The food was good, the onion bhaji ciabatta was the winning dish..We thought there was too much red onion and balsamic dressing on the salad and would request no onion and less dressing next time. One gripe was the kitchen needs to shut the door when cleaning down (although great they do a thorough job) The loud noise of someone scrubbing the floor vigorously was so annoying and if I’d been playing I would have been really irritated.

However we really enjoyed our lunch and look forward to the other music events Maxwells have planned for the future.

We popped in for some lunch today. The service was very good but it was letdown by the food. I had a hot beef baguette It had hardly any beef in this, and was just covered by cheese, this was also dry. Disappointed as I was expecting more from Maxwell‘s maybe I was unlucky today, but this sandwich was a one star baguette today, My friend had the full English breakfast and this looked quite good and he had no complaints. The atmosphere is nice here and the staff are very nice as well just to shame about the food which is the important bit.

Came here for the first time for cocktails and food. The food was great, absolutely delicious. Portions were huge and full of flavour!! We got the big mac fries and the chicken tikka flatbread.
The cocktails were nice but not that strong, missing some more alcohol… That might say more about me than the drinks though…
staff that were working were really nice and attentive.
I’m looking forward to coming back for another visit.

Popped in yesterday for a bite to eat and a drink. I ordered the cheeseburger fries, and my friends ordered the salt & pepper fries. With onion rings and a cheesey flat bread as extra. The food was absolutely amazing. Good portion size, and very well presented. The beer was good, too. Will definitely be back when I’m in Clitheroe, and I would highly recommend it to anyone else.

This has gone downhill and I say this as someone who’s been going here for 15+ years. When i went in there’s a sign saying “wait to be seated” so I did. 5 minutes later despite the place being really quiet no member of staff had come near me. Eventually sat down and was approached by an older member of staff who shouted from about 6 feet away “what do you want?” I ordered hot chocolate and carrot cake. The chocolate came soon after. 5 minutes later and with no sign of the cake I had to ask a member of staff for my cake. Not a word of apology, in fact not a word at all. She didn’t speak but brought the cake over in complete silence. The cake was very tasty but the hot chocolate was tasteless. It’s a shame as their hot chocolate has always been good. They used to use Cadburys but this just tasted like a hot water based cheap chocolate. It’s a shame as I’ve always enjoyed Maxwells. There are plenty of much better places in Clitheroe where I’ll now be spending my money.
