Celebrating a birthday we wanted to try somewhere new and really liked the look of the Alma Inn and its menu. We visited on Sunday the 18th January after making a booking to eat there.
We arrived on a misty afternoon and got great first impressions just looking from the outside. We were met by Liam at the bar who was really friendly and made us feel very welcome. We had a drink at the bar next to the log burner where we checked out the menu which was extensive and then there was the specials board.
Mark who was very friendly served us and spoke with us several times making us feel like regulars. We ended up having three courses all of which we really enjoyed.
It was so good we decided to book a stay with them as they are dog friendly with local walks.
Following our visit I would definitely recommend trying the Alma Inn.
I stayed at The Alma for two nights whilst visiting family locally. From the start I received a warm welcome from Mark, who checked me in and showed me my room. The pub has a nice cosy, warm atmosphere and everyone was welcoming. I had dinner on the Monday evening which was the best fillet steak I’ve eaten. The food and service received from the team was excellent and the room (room 9) was gorgeous. Definitely visiting again next time I’m in the area.
We love the location & the ambience of the Alma Inn. We have enjoyed our overnight stay with yourselves. Due to the weather forecast it was quiet, but did have some locals call in for food. Our room was spacious & v comfortable. We all slept well too. Although not frequent visitors, we have stayed there several times, over the last few years & feel that the access area to the rooms could be freshen up as the carpet is worn in parts. Great value for money & hope to visit again.
We are regular drinkers at the Alma and service and ambience is always superb. On a few occasions when we have eaten, the quality has been very good and attention to my specific dietary requirements accommodated with ease and efficiency. We like the professionalism of the staff who are also friendly and personal, remembering small details that make the experience relaxed and enjoyable. Special thanks to Molly, Liam and Mark on the last few visits.
A bunch of us visited for a late lunch on a quiet Monday afternoon with our dogs. The service was great, really helpful and tolerant when the dogs emptied their water bowls across the floor! The food was great, it came out promptly and was tasty and well presented. My mussels were delicious, and our pals haddock, cheese tart & fish pie mains were also great. The beer was refreshing and we had an excellent Alvarinho or two with the meal. A great time was had by all.
