The Aspinall Arms

An excellent riverside find in a great location, and very atmospheric. We sat beside a lovely open fire for warming morning coffee on a cool day: the barman even put more logs on for us. Outside, with great views, would be lovely on a dryer day but unfortunately the weather was not on our side. The staff are very attentive and friendly – maybe even more so to my accompanying dog than to me! The drinks were quickly and efficiently served. The fare on the menu looked appetising and well priced but we were only there for morning coffee.
♿️ The premises are readily accessible, well
marked disabled parking spaces, entrance and facilities all on one level, with lots of space to manoeuvre between tables, and easily accessible toilets.
🐶 The entire bar area and outside area is very dog friendly, and even water bowls are provided for pet friends. The staff loved the dog with us! There are carpeted areas out of bounds to paw footed friends but these are reasonable and well signed.
Certainly a place for re-visiting.

Great food great views nice warm and cosy log fires and a pleasant atmosphere recommended

Visited the Apinall Arms after a long walk, we thought it looked lovely from the outside so decided to stop by for a bite to eat. No warm greeting quite the opposite, the man behind the bar was very abrupt when we said we didn’t have a booking & stated we would have to sit across from the bar on a small table which we were fine with, but his attitude was appalling. The guy that took our order was nice but every other member of staff we encountered was anything but friendly and welcoming. We had the steak burger & southern fried chicken burger & they were just awful. The chips were hard & flavourless, the southern fried chicken burger was burnt to a crisp round the edges & it didn’t even look like a southern fried it looked like a piece of chicken tikka! The taste was so bad I barely ate half of it, what we did eat we did out of pure hunger! We wanted to complain about all of it however we were on a relaxing weekend away so was definitely not going to spoil it. For the price of it we were appalled by what we got. Once we got the bill we were handed a envelope with a discount code for our next visit, we threw it away. Not even a discount could make us return. Would not recommend.
